Methodology
DMS employs an "agile" deployment and development methodology, derived from the Agile methodology employed within the Software Engineering discipline.
Many ERP service providers use a classic "waterfall" implementation methodology. This "standard" approach relies on highly structured phases and stages, each with strictly defined deliverables. This requires that the service provider develop complex and comprehensive requirements and design documents that the client must review and "sign off" on. More often than not, these documents do not capture the customer's true requirements. The end result is limited interaction with the client and individual stakeholders during each phase of the project, delaying project delivery and often not fully meeting requirements.
To avoid these issues, DMS utilizes an "agile" implementation and development model. The agile model places less emphasis on long, formal requirements and design phases, and more emphasis on interaction with stakeholders during short configuration and development iterations. A key concept in the agile methodology is that the requirements and design are not finished until the deployment is finished, since requirements and designs often (i.e., regularly) change during deployment.
